the pole is not alone. it comes with another. It is used for the badminton net. Defintely not for use in winter but for summer... ;-)

heavy snowfall

today was a day of heavy snowfall. it was very windy that it was hard to look ahead straight as the snow was getting into the eyes. A day to stay put at home. This was on my way back home. hopefully i haven't spoilt my camera by exposing it to the wet weather.

it was very cold today.. after weeks of above zero, it was really freezing today. I had to have my wooly cap and gloves on today. Not much snow, but temperatures are expected to be minus 17 tomorrow.

This was taken at 7pm. The outside temp is minus 11.5 C and the indoor one is 24.3 C.

I enjoyed the snow and the snow pictures too. But today it was above 0 and drizzing. It was hard to walk this path that I take to school everyday. It was like taking baby steps... well it was more like walking like a frail old lady.. slowly and steadily.

After taking this shot, my cam went back into the bag as I braced myself to pass this path. There was gravel but not enough.

The building you see here is an elementary school.

it snowed a bit more today. i took a number of shots and was undecided which to post. In the end chose this cos it best describes how eagerly everyone has been waiting for the snow to come. All the kids were out sleding, making snowman and snow angels...

Magic Season

It was a very happy xmas and new year with mum and sis. Indeed a magic season minus the snow. I stayed at the airport watching the board for the plane to depart before coming home. This is for you sis from the departute hall.

this is the last nite for this star to be lit. Here in Finland, people throw out their trees tomorrow. (those who have real ones that is) Mine is fake and it is time tomorrow to bring down the decorations.

Also my mum and sis leave for Singapore tomorrow... waaahh...

where is the snow?

No, it didn't snow today, though I thought it might. ;( This was taken on Oct 31st when the first snow arrived in Vantaa. Now it is just dark and rainy.

Fireworks

I tried my best to capture the fireworks from my balcony window. Alas, I didn't get my timing right or angle right. This is from Helsinki harbour.

In Singapore, it is not allowed for the public to shoot 'rockets' or other kinds of fireworks. Only ordinary sparklers are allowed. Here it is different and also at times dangerous when everyone tries to get in on the act and some don't do it responsibly.

Next, this is one of my favourite photos and I have been using this as my pc wallpaper. I like the serene colours. It was posted on August 14 as Green Acres. Something tat I forgot to mention in that post was that this was taken from a moving car and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. ;-)
